VersaNotcher Update - Should we offer a kit to retrofit?

VersaNotcher Update!

We did a mild redesign on the VersaNotcher and it now has an oversized CNC machined ACME block mounted to the top plate! This allows easy replacement of the female ACME thread if it every wears out. The top plate is also now bolted on, which allows easier access to the inside of the tool for maintenance and allows upper jaw replacement (they don't wear much, but you can cut into them with a hole saw either knowingly or unknowingly).

Should we offer an update kit for existing VersaNotchers? Reply here with a YES for "please offer it" or a "NO" if you don't think you would be interested.

A retrofit would include a little cutting with a 4.5" grinder (not dimensionally critical), and drilling (4) holes that are 11/32 (about 5/16") in diameter. Estimated time to retrofit is under 30 minutes (5 minutes if you're betting on times!). Parts replaced would include the top plate, ACME screw with hub, upper vise jaw, ACME nut (replaced with bolted block), and you would be adding (6) bolts to the assembly.

Let us know! Photo of new machine shown!

Yes please, I'm a little bummed I got mine right before the upgrade,my buddy would of had a easier time powder coating it and I like the idea of being able to replace worn or modified part's on the notcher, sometimes I make things work even if I shouldn't lol

Yes. I got my versa notcher last summer and the bearing locked up a couple weeks ago and wouldn't release. Was in the middle of a project and had to cut old pieces out and rethread the nut, then used all thread while welding nuts in place. A bolt on replacement would have made this so much easier.

Yes. I’ve only had mine a couple months. On a couple occasions I couldn’t back the jaws off and had to work the Thick ACME collar off with a pliers. Seems the small set screw just isn’t enough to sufficiently lock that collar on.

will the upgrade fix that issue?

Yes. I have only had mine a few months. I would like to do anything that prolongs its productivity.

We have a re-assembly process that fixes that issue. We'll write it up and post it.
